OUR MISSION

MISSION & VISION

Creating a safe place for children from the townships of Jeffreys Bay. We are taking care of children aged 4 up to 18 years old. Our main activity is to teach the children how to surf. This will contribute to their social and mental well-being. Of course, this gives them a good sports activity to keep them in good shape, but most importantly, this will help them create bonds with each other, see the purpose of life as a whole and work together. Them learning and working towards something is a big stimulation for their self-esteem.

But we’re not focused on just surfing. We want the children to come together in an environment where they feel safe and can freely express themselves, distracting them from their daily life struggles. We want to broaden their horizons, give them a feeling that they are loved and clarify that each one of them has got potential and that they are allowed to dream. ACHIEVED GOALS

Buy a house
Since 2021, the project was run from a container. In 2025, we managed to realize a long-term goal: buy a house! The house means a safe place, room for more children and equipment, and lots of space for fun activities and preparing meals.
More surfcoaches
We want to keep growing and make more impact. To surf with bigger or more groups, we'll need to train another surfcoach to support Jimeal. We recently trained two older boys from our group to become a surf instructor!
FAIR PAY
We wanted to pay our surf instructors, who have been volunteering as coaches, to be fairly paid for their work with the kids. Thanks to your support we can fairly pay them for their hard work and support the local community!

SHORT TERM GOALS

Set up the house
We bought a house in 2025. Now it's time for the next step, and make it ready for lot's of fun activities, healthy meals, homework support and more!
Provide healthy foods
We want to give the children a healthy snack after their surflessons. We also strive to start a gardening project, in which the children learn how to grow their own food, and take it home with them.
Surf competitions
We want to give the talents within our groups of children the chance to participate in competitions more often. So they can compete with others, find out about their strengths and ofcourse, have a lot of fun. This means we will use donations to pay entrance fee, arrange accommodation and transport.

LONG TERM GOALS

A HOUSE FULL OF ACTIVITIES
When we've set up the house, we want to establish a weekly activity program where kids can enjoy meals and have fun activities, besides the surf lessons. The house will be run by a dedicated community manager.
MERCHANDISE
To create a community and generate a stable income of donations, we want to design merchandise to sell in Jeffreys Bay, and even ship internationally.
Provide education
In the future we also want to broaden our horizon and provide more than only surf lessons. On days when no surfing is possible, we already support the kids with their homework. In the future we would love to include more supplementary education for the children in the surf house as well.
